Spot, the 4-legged robot from the robot company Boston Dynamics, will soon be on sale, but not for everyone. Companies that want the robot have to come up with a good plan before they can order the robot.
Relevant applications
Request permission. However, Boston Dynamics does not make it easy for its potential customers. If you want to buy the robot as a company, you must "either have a convincing application or have a development team that we believe can do something very interesting with the robot".
Applications
Boston Dynamics sees applications for itself, such as inspecting construction sites, oil refineries and other locations. Sites that are dangerous for people. The robot can analyze its own environment, avoid obstacles and maintain its balance.
Additional modules
Spot comes with special modules, such as a robotic arm and a 360-degree zoom camera. When Spot needs to find gas leaks, it is equipped with a methane detector. If it has to work over longer distances, it is equipped with a special network module. For example, the robot can also create 3D models of rooms with an optional scanner.
Robot Atlas even better
Meanwhile, Boston Dynamics has also published a new video of its human robot Atlas. Through a new algorithm that can predict movements, the actions merge more smoothly into each other and the robot can make a smooth rollover.
